If something went wrong during a cook, two things make it fixable rather than guessable:
- The recipes themselves. Open a recipe, tap the share button at the top right, and send me the file it produces. Do that for the main and every side that was in the plan — the file contains the exact steps and timings the app was working from, which is usually enough to reproduce the problem on the first try.
- A screenshot of what looked wrong, especially the timeline or the step that misbehaved.
Those two together beat any description, including mine.
Importing a recipe
Open the recipe in Safari, tap the Share button, and choose KitchenCadence. The link lands in Shared Items inside the app, where you tap Import with AI to turn it into a plan. You can also paste text instead of sharing a link — useful for a recipe in Notes or a photo you've transcribed.
"This recipe left something out"
If a recipe uses the oven but never says how hot, the app won't let the import finish until you set a temperature. That isn't fussiness: two dishes can share an oven only if they want the same heat, so a guessed temperature produces a confidently wrong plan. Tap the step it lists and choose a temperature.
A dish finished too early or too late
Times come from the recipe, and recipes are optimistic. Tap any step to adjust its length, and everything after it re-plans. If a whole dish consistently runs long, edit its steps in the recipe itself and the change sticks for next time.
Timers and notifications
Timers only alert you if notifications are allowed. Check Settings → KitchenCadence → Notifications. For timers on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, Live Activities needs to be on in the same place. Steps where food can spoil keep alerting until you acknowledge them; a finished preheat chimes once.
Why is there no countdown on prep steps?
On purpose. Nothing bad happens if chopping takes an extra minute, so a shrinking clock over your own hands is pressure without a reason. Countdowns are reserved for food that can actually overcook. Prep steps show an estimate instead, and the plan absorbs the difference.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Cooking, timers and everything you've already saved work offline. Importing a new recipe from a link needs a connection, since the page has to be fetched and read.
Deleting your data
Everything the app stores lives on your device, so deleting the app removes all of it. There's no account and nothing held server-side about you — see the privacy policy for the detail.

Both welcome, at the same address. This app exists because dinner kept going cold in stages; if it's failing you in some specific way, that's worth hearing about.
